What is 211/FCFH?

211/FCFH is an anonymous 24/7 telephone helpline, providing immediate, critical connections to individuals and families in Waukesha County. Components include:

Telephone Counseling Servicesa
• Assist callers 24/7 problem solve callers' immediate needs
• Crisis Intervention (including suicide)
• Emotional Support
• Information about human services for every day needs and in times of crisis
• Referral to human services for every day needs and in times of crisis

Community Outreach
• Counselor assists individuals/families in navigating through "the system", and accessing appropriate services.
• Counselor advocates for individuals/families who are having trouble getting their needs met.
• Counselor helps individuals learn to self-advocate.
• Counselor provides systems and legislative advocacy.
• Counselor provides services in-home, office, school, and other places throughout the community.
• Counselor coordinates Gift Lift Project for individuals with severe, persistent mental illness. If you are interested in volunteering for this project, contact the Community Outreach Counselor at 262-547-0769.

Counseling Center
• Masters prepared mental health counselors provide short-term, solution-focused counseling to individuals, families, and children.
• Anonymous, confidential, and free-of-charge, services provide assistance to individuals, families, and children.
• Appointments available mornings, afternoons, and evenings, Monday-Friday.
• Call 211/FCFH to schedule an appointment with the Counseling Center by dialing 2-1-1 or 262-547-3388, 24/7.

Our telephone services are available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year. We hope that as more and more people learn about 2-1-1/FCFH and the supportive services we offer, 2-1-1 will be the first number dialed when faced with social service needs. 2-1-1 can be used for concerns that do not require the emergency services of 9-1-1.

Our Waukesha County 211/FCFH is nationally accredited as:
• An information and referral provider by the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS)
• A crisis intervention provider by the American Association of Suicidology (AAS)

Our caring telephone counselors
Have received specific training to listen, identify needs, and intervene to assist with the most basic or complex issues.
• Are well prepared to identify social service needs
• Use an up-to-date database of over 2,000 programs, and 800 agencies to meet your social service needs for residents in Waukesha County.

Because 211/FCFH is operated by the Mental Health Association in Waukesha County and Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services , our telephone counselors can readily refer you to other MHA programs when appropriate:
Mobile Crisis Response, a partnership is WCHHS, if you need a mental health professional to respond to mental health crisis on weeknights, weekends, or holidays
Community Prevention Education if you seek information on mental health, recovery, or mental illness topics including videos, speakers, telephonic recorded messages, puppet shows and plays for youth, and a vast selection of print materials.
